Note: If you have the option, I would suggest upgrading to a 5 gallon tank. Red Cherry Shrimp, Rili Shrimp, and Crystal Red Shrimp are better options, and you can keep 10 or more in a species only tank. These tanks are tiny, but you can keep a single betta or a pair of the others. The best fish for a 3.5 gallon tank are least killifish, endler’s livebearers, and betta.
